Alive and well in Cancun

I have exciting news for those thinking about a Honeymoon or vacation to Cancun this year. Things are very much alive and well in the Cancun region of Mexico!

I have recently returned from a comprehensive, 10 day educational trip to Cancun, taking part in the annual Meeting Place Caribbean for Travel / Event and Honeymoon Planners. Throughout the last few years, I have stayed in or inspected many of the 160 hotels and resorts in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.

There are many reasons to visit Cancun this year.  Most of the Hotel Zone resorts have been totally renovated or rebuilt since hurricane Wilma roared through the region in 2005.  The Cancun Palace is a wonderful resort, as is Live Aqua, a contemporary resort.  For those of you who desire an all inclusive resort, rates are still very reasonable at The Royal in Cancun and Dreams. Traditional, European Plan (without meals) Resorts are elegant, romantic, and perfect for those who want to experience the local flavor of Cancun.  I strongly suggest the JW Marriott or the Ritz Carlton to celebrate a special occasion.  You will be pampered by the impeccable service, beautiful rooms, and outstanding restaurants that these hotels have to offer.  Once you leave your resort and explore the Hotel Zone, you will find very popular and fun restaurants, including Senor Frogs, and Carlos and Charlie’s.  More familiar restaurants include Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Café, and Ruth Chris Steakhouse to name a few.  Exciting night clubs including Coco Bongo and Liquid are located in the heart of the Hotel Zone.

Many travelers are concerned about safety when traveling to Mexico.  Although Mexico has it’s share of concerns (as do most cities), I can tell you from experience that Cancun is tourist friendly and offers a safe environment.  Security is frequently seen along the Hotel Zone, in the Malls, and at the resorts.  I have always been comfortable walking along the Hotel Zone, as my clients have too.

The Hotel Zone’s beaches have been a concern for several years, mostly due to erosion. Today, Cancun tourists are in awe and the locals couldn’t be happier!  Cancun has finally gotten its beaches back. As the $71 million (USD) dollar project continues, the results can not only be seen, but are already being enjoyed by all.  The project began in September, 2009 delivering more than two thousand tons of pipeline material to destination and more than 1.3 billion gallons (6.1 million cubic meters) of sand to replenish all of Cancun’s Hotel Zone seashore.

Please check back with me soon as I will describe the unbelievable Spas located in many of the Hotel Zone Resorts.  Think about a romantic couple’s getaway that includes spa treatments as part of your vacation.  Or how about a girl’s getaway or Bachelorette party for 4-5 nights of Spa pampering!

I personally vacation at least once every year in Cancun along with many of my clients.  In addition to the Hotel Zone, many choose to also stay just south of Cancun in the Riviera Maya Region.  Look for more information in the future about several of the 250+ resorts located there.

As an official Certified Cancun Counselor with the Cancun Visitors and Convention Bureau, and Master Agent with Secrets and Dreams Resorts and Spas, I am confident that I will find the perfect resort for you.  Please feel free to contact me anytime for additional information.
